NHS ethics approval is a default requirement for all funded projects involving patients and/or interventions, unless the project has been exempt, based on the NHS Research Ethics Committee (REC). decision tool.
It is the responsibility of Principal Investigators to demonstrate to the board of trustees that their research proposal has received NHS ethics approval, or is exempt.
All funded projects will also be subject to an internal ethics review process.

Internal ethics review
Once a research project has been approved for funding the Principal Investigator will need to complete and submit an internal ethics checklist, before funds can be released.
Details on how to download, complete, and submit the ethics checklist will be available here soon.
